I would like to start by apologizing for the low amount of updates on teh forum for the past time. Round 19 didn't go as well as expected and now we are without a game server as Hawkie moved to a new place. This said, we do have plans set for the future, so don't worry! Atm we have set up a speed server for the game, so a few rounds of speedy TC can be found on a temporary host. More information about this can be found on the forum.
Now for the future of 1h tick rounds of TC we have no exact date set. We do have a new server on the works (old/new) and hopefully we will get this up early 2009 January. We will keep you posted about these changes as soon as we know for certain how things will proceed. Hopefully we can get everything back on track as soon as possible. I would like to remind everyone who is getting their main source of information from this portal to join us @ irc.netgamers.org channel #colonies. |

...take off all your clothes!! Yeah, you heard me :) The round has really heated up and there have been some really sweet battles in the past 200 ticks! TFD and DeCept are the two giants left in the game and i'm sure both parties want to be #1 as the hot chick from next door. As i'm writing this the score difference between TFD and DeCept is under 400 (Four Hundred) point and both alliances are soon close to one million points in total. I've never seen a round this close ever before. Now both alliances have had their ups and downs. Some have forgotten that they've launched a fleet, others have been fleet capped. There has been some pretty cunning new tactics seen this round and more battle has been progressed than in the past 7 rounds in total! Ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit about that but in general this round has been a lot more exciting than any round in my recent memory. Now we have 125 ticks left in this round, who will prevail? Stay tuned! |

Round 18 started on friday with a little hickup on the first tick but lets not get sad about that! Now it seems that everything else has gone smootly so lets hope it all goes well!! Now i would like to remind everyone that the colonists managment is abit hard in the begining so try to keep your total amount of colonists as high as possible to get more new free colonists/tick. This will help you later on to being able to order more ships/miners/techs/.... And do try to get hospitals and maturation chambers quickly as that helps your colonists growth! |

The official irc channel has been decided to be moved from irc.dark-storm.net server to irc.netgamers.org by the crew to get a more stable server for the players. This move doesn't mean that you would have to stop using the dark-storm channel, as most of you will probably still use it. We do encourage everyone to join the netgamers server channel as we will change every info acoordingly. See you all on irc.netgamers.org #colonies ! o/ You can register your nickname to P on the netgamers site http://www.netgamers.org and you can find all the information regarding the network there. |

General info/History: The Colonies (TC) – is originally a PA clone, which was created by Beachy during the time Plantarion went p2p, around year 2000. The change brought many new players to our game, and at it's peak there were around 1.500-2.000 active players. However like with all web/tick-based games our numbers have shrunk, and we're now down to a playerbase of roughly 100.
During the early days there was lots of innovative development by Beachy with many influences driven by the playerbase. The downside if a fast progress however also brought with it a fair amount of bugs, which affected to the size of playerbase negatively. Once bugs were fixed the game ran stable for a long time, and with efforts from Adjuh, who took over the coding, the game built a solid, closely knit group of players around it, and it was one of best featured games out there. It still beats others in the genre even though the development stopped for quite some time, until recently when the game got a new surge of life with active admins and coders, who are here to bring the game forward again.
The last round was mostly a learning curve for the new admins, but during the round a lot of work has been put into making round 18 the technically best so far, with bugfixes, requested changes, new features and so on. Signups are open NOW. - Groups are set to 5.
- Planets are set to 7.
- Ticks will start September 12th at 16:00.
- Tick speed is set to 1 hour.
- Round length set to 750 ticks.
- Round will end October 13th at 21:00. (It ticks for the last time at 21:00)
- Game login at http://game.thecolonies.net.
- Game channel is as usual #colonies on irc.dark-storm.net.
